From Research Comes Design

04/11/06
An exciting announcement folks, it is our conclusion that a comprehensive design of the user experience is not only plausible, but is largely predictable in its outcomes. This has become the ideal time to shift our focus from research to design to begin defining the possible ways to implement this.

Absorption Versus Entertainment

11/08/06
A key issue identified in our investigation has been to define the differences between absorption and entertainment within the user experience. Users are absorbed simply through their participation, but may not be doing individual actions that are entertaining to them at the time. This has further shaped the course of the project's investigation path by making the assessment of entertainment a more granular calculation.

A New Model

22/07/06
The information gathered from the project so far has led to our refinement of the Bartle Quotient methodology to account for the transitional nature of the user experience. Whilst the BQ is a good broad starting point, we have found the need to create a more complex model to account for apparent contradictions in user experience theory.

Initial Results Compiled

18/04/06
Our results are now able to define the user experience elements that are important to the research project. This now allows a more fine tuned approach to information collection. Our objective is to create a complete model of the user experience from which to define predictive elements useful in an overall design.

Research Project now underway!

25/01/06
The MMO Research Project has commenced and we have begun cataloging user experience elements of MMO interaction. The long term data collection of this process is expected to take at least 12 months.
